IC-Trucks

Hydrostatic Drive for Greater Handling Performance
Linde Material Handling IC trucks with hydrostatic drive

Rapid handling processes are only possible if forklift trucks possess precision power transmission and control, which also saves time and increases handling capacity. For decades, Linde Material Handling has set the standards for productivity and efficiency in the development of internal combustion trucks.

The interplay of the hydrostatic direct drive, dual pedal control, and Linde Load Control, as well as the outstanding ergonomics of Linde trucks, ensure that the driver can quickly and precisely carry out all travel and lifting tasks at all times. Thanks to intelligent controls and the tuning of the diesel, propellant gas, and natural gas engines, the necessary output is always available.

Safety is yet another essential principle for Linde's IC truck development, leading to a sophisticated design; all parts and components are exceptionally robust while still ensuring optimum visibility. What's more, a range of mechanical and electrical systems enhances both the trucks' active and passive safety levels.

Linde's wide range of internal combustion trucks covers a load bearing capacity of 1.4 to 18 tons.

Focus on: Hydrostatics

The hydrostatic drive features a pump which is powered by the internal combustion engine. This pump transmits power in the form of oil pressure via a closed circuit linked to the two hydraulic engines in the drive axle. The operator controls the volume and direction of the oil flow – and therefore the speed and direction of the truck – using two pedals: the Linde dual pedal control. The truck's direction can be changed simply by switching pedals. This closes the cycle of oil which slows the truck, meaning a brake system is not required – and the same is true of a clutch or transmission. This is how Linde's hydrostatic drive is able to work fluidly, entirely uniformly, and smoothly. This innovative form of transmission is what gives Linde's internal combustion trucks their dexterity and efficiency.

Cost-Effective and Robust Forklift Trucks

Efficient handling, ergonomic workspaces, and comprehensive safety packages – these are the guidelines that have led the development of the latest generation of IC trucks. That's why, for example, the trucks boast exceptionally economical engines, and can also put in an incredible number of operating hours without interruption, as they only rarely require servicing, while easy to access service modules ensure that maintenance processes are quick and simple.

Work Healthily

The developers design the trucks around the operator, with ergonomics as a priority – a fact to which the adjustable armrests and comfortable, back-friendly seats attest. Rubber bearings on the axles, mast, and tilt cylinders, as well as comfortable seats reduce the vibrations felt by the operator.

The Linde Load Control and dual pedal steering also play an important role. While controlling drive with their feet, the operator can simultaneously operate the lifting functions with their fingers. This operating concept reduces unnecessary movements, meaning operators can work for longer with less fatigue.

Safely on the move

There are many factors in a forklift truck that play a role in ensuring the safety of the operator and the load, including exceptional visibility, assistance systems, and a wide range of structural protection elements – whether the Linde Protector Frame for up to five ton models or the optimal visibility counterbalance for heavy trucks. This is how Linde IC trucks ensure the highest degree of safety in any application – for both the operator and their environment.

Continuous development

At Linde Material Handling, continuous improvement is one of our core principles. The hydrostatic drive, for example, has been perfected over a few decades, constantly improving the efficiency and environmental performance of IC trucks. We have excellent availability, superior performance, and maximum safety in mind at all times.

A perfect example of Linde's innovations are its assistance systems, such as the Linde Safety Pilot, that enhances productivity and reliability, or the Engine Protection System (EPS), that prevents serious engine damage. The system monitors vital engine parameters such as oil level and oil pressure, warning the driver should levels get too high. If the operator does not react to the warning, the EPS limits the truck to creep speed.

More effective

The operator can perform all driving and mast functions quickly and precisely in any situation thanks to the hydrostatic drive and Linde Load Control.

Safer

Optimal all-round visibility and a range of assistance systems provide greater safety in the operator's day-to-day work.

More cost-effective

The Linde hydrostatic drive operates without a transmission, clutch, differential, or brakes, resulting, among other things, in low fuel consumption and reduced maintenance costs.

More robust

The combination of the hydrostatic direct drive and robust engines really comes to the fore in challenging continuous operation with extensive operating hours. Many of the components don't even require any servicing.

More comfortable

The size of the cab and its layout are based on automotive standards: the best environment for fast, relaxed work.

Forklifts made to measure

Every application is different. That's why Linde offers different design variants and a wide range of equipment options for each of its product lines, all of which are manufactured in series production. This allows each truck to be adapted to the requirements of its individual application and the customer to exploit the full performance potential of their equipment.

We offer specialist care within our sales organisation in order to meet customer requirements that cannot be covered by the available series options. These specialists analyse the requests and, together with Development and Production, develop a customised solution for the specific application.

What's more, Linde can also kit out existing forklifts with plenty of added extras – from heating and air conditioning (contains fluorinated hydrocarbons) to integrated lateral shifting or LED work headlamps, all available as retro-fit solutions to Linde customers, allowing their existing trucks to always remain up to date.
